Throughout the year, Crow Canyon holds a number of special events—on campus and in cities across the country—to raise awareness of, and support for, the Center's mission.
Members of Crow Canyon's Chairman's Council are invited to attend this year's annual meeting, which will be a three-day celebration of the 25th anniversary of Crow Canyon's founding. A wide variety of fun and informative activities will highlight our achievements in research, education, and American Indian involvement:
Tours of Sand Canyon and Goodman Point pueblos
Tour of the Pueblo Farming Project garden plots
Interactive "program sampler": Try your hand an spear-throwing, fire starting, tree-ring dating, or "lab analysis 101"; compare pottery from sites in the Mesa Verde region and the Rio Grande valley
President Ricky Lightfoot's "State of the Institution" address
Presentations by the research and education staffs
Other highlights will include American Indian dances; a special live performance by premier Native American flutist R. Carlos Nakai, followed by a reception; and a keynote address by Dr. Joseph Suina, professor emeritus at the University of New Mexico College of Education and former governor of Cochiti Pueblo. And of course no annual meeting would be complete without lots of fine dining and good cheer! So join us October 16–18 and help us celebrate 25 years of learning, teaching, and friendship!
