Education Programs

Archaeology has a unique capacity for capturing the imagination of students.

At the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center, we offer experience-based learning programs to students in the fourth through twelfth grades. And a special course just for teachers is designed to challenge, inspire, and provide essential professional development.

Two special teaching facilities—the Pithouse Learning Center and the Pueblo Learning Center—allow children to immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of the past. Hands-on activities integrate concepts from multiple disciplines, including archaeology, history, geography, science, mathematics, environmental studies, and visual arts.

Whether participating in Pueblo games in our meadow, learning how to weave textiles in our Pueblo Learning Center, or excavating a real or simulated archaeological site, students in Crow Canyon’s education programs learn by doing. What better way to gain a firsthand appreciation for American Indian history and culture? View the full Archaeology Catalog (PDF) online.
